The DROCS™ System

The Dynamic Rotary Orthotic Control System (DROCS)™ is a high-performance modular component strut system, that, when incorporated into custom designed orthoses, provides superior control, balance, and gait improvements for the user.  The patient will discover that each step is longer, smoother and more stable—resulting in an easier, more natural stride.

The DROCS™ system can be incorporated into:

  • Ankle Foot Orthoses (AFO)
  • Knee Ankle Foot Orthoses (KAFO)
  • Hip Knee Ankle Foot Orthoses (HKAFO)
  • Thoracic Hip Knee Ankle Foot Orthoses (THKAFO)

What is different about the DROCS™ system?

Carbon Graphite Composition
The unique engineering of the DROCS™ system, using carbon graphite, provides an unprecedented combination of flexibility, support, and dynamic response.  As a result, the device accommodates the varying walking speeds of the user throughout his or her day, at the same time providing unmatched stability.

Rotational Rigidity
The unique composite design and carbon graphite composition allow true energy storage during movement—none is absorbed into rotation.  The user feels stable as knee flexion in the pre-swing phase is securely supported.  The stride becomes smooth and effortless; gait control and balance are enhanced, and stride length symmetry is improved.  In effect, the user finds the ability to do more with less fatigue.

In addition to the elasticity inherent to each DROCS™ brace, the modular system is offered in nine response levels, allowing adaptation to changes in strength and lifestyle. 

The DROCS™ design is unprecedented in comfort: it uses no mechanical hinges, which are subject to wear, noise, and motion limitation.  And unlike traditional thermoplastic designs, the carbon graphite construct is unaffected by temperature, humidity, or fatigue.
