The Importance of Certification and Accreditations
The American Board for Certification in Orthotics and Prosthetics (ABC) has accredited Nobbe Orthopedics, Inc. Facility accreditation prescribes standards of professionalism, safety, patient care, service delivery and staff credentialing. Nobbe Orthopedics remains the only ABC accredited Orthotic and Prosthetic facility in Santa Barbara.
By selecting an orthotist or prosthetist who is certified by the American Board for Certification (ABC), your physician assures that your care meets established national standards. Medicare, MediCal and the Veterans administration recognize ABC certification. Board-certified orthotists/prosthetists must complete a baccalaureate degree, post-graduate education and a year of residency experience under the guidance of a certified practitioner. ABC certification must be renewed every three years and only practitioners who update their skills and education are eligible.
Equally important is selecting a facility that is accredited by the ABC. In order to become accredited, an orthotic and prosthetic facility must meet the ABC established national standards and undergo a reviewing process by a panel of industry experts every five years. Nobbe Orthopedics, Inc. facilities in Santa Barbara, Santa Maria and Ventura are fully accredited by ABC. We maintain a staff of "ABC Certified" orthotists and prosthetists who are skilled and sensitive to each individual's unique needs.
